Since opening our own child care center in November of 2023, VGM Group has seen firsthand how access to quality, affordable child care and education Makes a Difference. VGM’s Q3 community giving aims to expand that opportunity to even more area families by focusing on child care and summer programming for children.
Donations totaling $7,500 were made to two organizations in Q3 2024. Learn more about them below.
Little Knights Learning Center – La Porte City Campus Donation amount: $2,500
VGM made a general donation toward the project’s capital campaign to construct a new day care in La Porte City, Iowa. La Porte City is designated as a “child care desert” by Iowa Child Care Resources and Referral, meaning we have a population of children more than three times larger than the number of registered child care spaces available. Little Knights has a location in Dysart and hopes to open the La Porte City Campus in Fall of 2025.
Little Knights Learning Center – La Porte City Campus will be a registered, age 0-12 day care, designed to accommodate 80-90 children. This new center will provide much-needed relief to area families struggling to find safe, affordable, high quality child care. Boys & Girls Club Donation amount: $5,000
VGM Group made a donation toward the Boys & Girls Club Summer Programming. This program runs for 8 weeks, 5 days a week, and 12 hours a day out of three sites. Recently, the Boys & Girls Club opened a new site with a capacity of 400, allowing them to serve even more area youth.
VGM’s donation helped fund programs dedicated to promoting academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. You can learn more about the Boys & Girls Club at cedarvalleyclubs.org.
