•  Jack Wilson of Waverly-Shell Rock High School, son of Bill Wilson of VGM Insurance.

“The Waterloo Community Foundation is privileged to partner with VGM’s scholarship program,” said Erin Tink, executive director of Waterloo Community Foundation. “It’s important to recognize students who are pursuing post-secondary opportunities, and it’s an honor to partner with them as they fulfill their dreams. We are grateful for VGM and their leadership team for investing in the next generation of leaders.”

Annually, VGM awards multiple $1,500 scholarships to high school senior dependents of current employees with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are pursuing a post-secondary education. While many applied, only six were chosen, with assistance from the Waterloo Community Foundation. Selection criteria included involvement in their community, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation and personal essay.

“At VGM, we are always trying to help our employee owners in any way we can, and that includes their children looking to further their education,” said Sara Laures, chief people officer at VGM Group. “By partnering with the Waterloo Community Foundation, we can provide these students with a little bit of financial support so they can achieve their educational and career goals.”
