VGM Group had a big month in September, receiving a handful of accolades. 

Once again, VGM Group has been ranked as a Top Workplace in Iowa among large employers. The list, published by the Des Moines Register, named VGM No. 4 this year, and has ranked VGM No. 1 three times in the past. 

Rankings for the award are based entirely on employees’ opinions from an anonymous survey performed by Energage, a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. The survey asks employees to assess metrics such as engagement, alignment, and company leadership.

Along with the Top Workplace recognition, VGM also received a special designation for Company Direction, pointing out that VGM is steering its success in the right direction. 

VGM was also selected as a Cedar Valley Employer of Choice by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier for the sixth consecutive year. Additionally, the Courier recognized VGM as a Best of the Best in the Large Employer Category. One theme that came up consistently among the award submissions: VGM’s ongoing investment in its employee owners. 

“Investing in our employee owners is one of the easiest decisions we can make as a company,” said VGM Chief People Officer Sara Laures. “We are constantly looking for new ways to help employee owners achieve both their personal and professional goals. And because it’s their company, we want to make sure they feel they belong.” 

One such way VGM is achieving that is with programs such as the VGM Family Fund, an employee-owner funded program that provides relief for employee owners going through financial struggles. Nearly $300,000 has been awarded to employee owners through this program. 

“We are incredibly honored to have these recognitions,” said VGM CEO Jeremy Stolz. “We have an ‘execute with excellence’ mindset—being named a Top Workplace and Employer of Choice is a testament to the work employee owners bring to the table day-in and day-out.”
